Welcome to the SSORL Annual Meeting 2020

Dear Colleagues

I hereby invite you to the Annual Meeting 2020 of the SSORL, which will be held for the first time in history virtually and in English in order to facilitate the communication with speakers from abroad.

The congress will take place in condensed and virtual form in an intensive two-day programfrom 11 to 12 November 2020.  The whole program can be followed online via the livestream.

Furthermore, the workshops, which were originally planned on Friday, will now also be available online on the congress website.  A virtual event has several advantages.  In particular, it has the advantage for your further education that the presentations can be accessed on the congress website up to three months after the congress with the help of your login and can thus be used for self-study.

The thematic focus of the SSORL Annual Meeting will remain the same despite the fact that it will be held virtually on the following topics; sense of smell, nasal function measurements, the role of biologics in rhinology, evaluation of surgical treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis, frontal sinus management and  preservation rhinoplasty.

Spread over two days, in a total of five sessions, selected national and international experts will give presentations focusing on their experience.  In addition, there will be five extremely exciting keynote lectures on Wednesday and Thursday with selected speakers from Switzerland and abroad. Furthermore, two round table sessions will take place on Thursday, for which a speaker will be connected live from the USA. In addition to that, four sponsored lecture will be hold two times from OM Pharma, one from ResMed and one from Schwabe.

The scientific committee, to whom I would like to thank here for their commitment, has drawn up an intellectually challenging program despite the difficult circumstances.  Numerous and different workshops will be offered virtually from the working groups, covering as many subject areas of our field as possible. Special attention was paid to the needs of the working groups.

Although the congress will take place virtually, I look forward to sharing these two conference days with you. I am convinced that they will certainly be exciting and enriching.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you in virtual form as soon as possible and in large numbers!
